The members of the MSUM Fencing Team encourage fellow students to try out the precision-based sport .
Nathan Roy, sophomore and vice president of the fencing club, described fencing as physical chess. Fencing is as much of a physical thing as it is a mental sport. Although it may not be a typical, well known sport, it still has a place at MSUM.

Section 9, a cyber café opening in Fargo, has a name that will only be recognized by well-versed anime fans.
“It’s this very interesting anime that takes place in the near modern future,” said Rob Sanford, one of the three brothers who founded the café. The characters are hooked up to the Internet in the anime, hence the name.

On Nov. 6, the Venue will showcase 100 models, some dressed in gunnysacks, headdresses or black light paint, but all eyes will be on their hair. Josef’s School of Hair Design is advertising its students’ talent at its yearly hair show.
“We want people to see this is more than just a hobby; the show is a perfect opportunity for students to get excited about the industry,” said Elaine Alleberry, an instructor at Josef’s and coordinator for the show.

Last month, MSUM’s food and facilities management company, Sodexo, was named one of the Top 100 U.S. companies for intern employment.
This ranking was published in an online press release by CollegeGrad.com. This is a one- destination Web site dedicated to assisting college students and graduates with career advice and job searches.

Students Today Leaders Forever, in connection with Hotel Donaldson and Bras on Broadway, hopes to raise awareness of breast cancer and help the local patients who already have cancer.
Students Today Leaders Forever, a student organization, is helping with breast cancer awareness through the sale of buttons.
Senior Amanda Cashman is in charge of the breast cancer awareness buttons.

Recently, MSUM incorporated billboards to attract new students. The person behind this new promotion is Patricia Staple, who was recently hired as the director of marketing.
As director of marketing, Staple is in charge of publications, which includes the Print Shop and the University Photo and Graphics.

Best described as colorful, mildly eccentric and wildly enthusiastic about knowledge, Dr. Allan Chapman, a patriotically English gentleman, made his annual trek to MSUM last week—complete with bow tie and pocket watch.
