Women lose to Bison

The Dragons women’s basketball team battled the Bison in the first half of their game, but could not keep up as they saw NDSU pull away in the second half to take down the Dragons 78-66.
The Dragons had a great effort from Alison Nash-Gerlach as she went 7-16 from the field and finished the game with 21 points.

Rugby plays in dresses

The Dragon women’s rugby club team, the Hummerz, hosted UND, NDSU and Concordia in an MSUM tournament Saturday at Nemzek.
The women who competed in the tournament competed in prom dresses. The prom dress tournament is an annual event to celebrate the end of the season.
Junior Ameilia Curtiss said the tournament is a fun way to close up the season.

Exhibition games end in defeat

The opening of the Dragons men’s basketball season got off to a slow start as they fell to cross-town rival NDSU 88-71.
This was the first of two exhibition games the Dragons will play this season. The Dragons lost the second, 98-49, Monday against University of Minnesota. Both the Bison and the Gophers participated in the NCAA Tournament last year but were knocked out in opening round action.

Nemzek setup crew helps out Setup manager Kelsey Fehl keeps events running smoothly at the fieldhous

It’s that time of the year again. Footballs are flying toward the end zone and basketballs float through the air in the journey to the hoop.
One thing that is often overlooked is the setup behind all the events. Someone has to set up the ticket booth, the concession stand and the field itself. This is where Kelsey Fehl and the rest of the Nemzek setup crew come into the picture.

Dancers thrill spectators Dragon dance team raises money for cancer, Bratsch during halftime

Despite a blowout loss of 47-0 in Saturday’s football game against St. Cloud State, the day was not a complete failure for the Dragons as the football team partnered with the dance team to raise support for cancer awareness and more specifically, a recent MSUM graduate.
The Dragons Athletics department and dance team paired up to host a Halloween Thriller Dance to raise money for MSUM graduate Lisa Bratsch, a veteran member of the dance team.

Basketball takes on Bison

As the Dragon women’s basketball team begins its season Tuesday in an exhibition against the NDSU Bison, they are shaping up to be an even better team than last year’s exceptionally successful team.
With an overall record of 22-8 and a strong run at the NCAA II Championship Tournament, head coach Karla Nelson said that the team played well throughout last season, and should play even better this season.

Young team shoots for strong season

When asked how the start of the season is going so far, Dragons Men’s Head Basketball Coach Stu Engen was not bashful in his response.
“Well, we’re undefeated,” Engen said.

Dragons compete at NSIC meet Men anticipate success, women hope to run hard, prepare for Regionals

The Dragon cross-country team has been on fire the past few weeks with the men’s team placing first at three of their last four meets.  The women’s team has also been competing well with junior Anna VanWechel placing first at this past weekend’s pre-regional meet.

Swimmers start season strong St. Cloud state defeats Dragons, team remains confident in performances

Kayla Koenig placed first in 3 meter diving and in 1 meter diving on Oct. 17 during a dual against St. Cloud. The team lost against St. Cloud, but are not dismayed.

Last weekend the Dragons swimming and diving team took on St. Cloud State, officially kicking off its season. Although the team lost overall, the athletes showed strong swimming and diving skills and are excited for what the rest of the season has in store.
