Editorial: Advocate looks for student support and input

With the update of The Advocate’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, hope of increasing the popularity of the newspaper with students is becoming more obtainable.

The Advocate strives for student recognition and support because the entire concept of the paper is based on providing students, faculty and staff with weekly news.

As the popularity of tangible newspapers diminishes, The Advocate is working toward alternative news outlets, such as our Web site and making it easier to use.

Facebook and Twitter also give the readers another place to keep up with news, voice comments and make story suggestions.

The Advocate is asking for your support. Many students contribute effort to the success of the paper and ultimately in hopes of better informing the public.

Tell your friends about The Advocate, and if you’re a professor, encourage your students to read it. The publication is an important part of our campus community.

It’s vital for students to be informed about their campus, the issues that affect them—that’s what The Advocate provides.

In addition, it’s an outlet for students to engage in discussion with each other over issues at school and the events that take place here.

Also, MSUM has a sizeable student population in the mass communication major, and these students could benefit from being involved in our organization in some capacity.

We are always looking for feedback and will be putting together an online survey to gauge our readership and the improvements they would like to see.

There will be a link on the MSUM homepage to The Advocate page where the survey will be posted. Please look for the survey in the future and help us by completing it.
