Dragons sports hit the air waves

Forget about John Madden, MSUM, and make way for a new and more local group of sports fanatics and their commentaries.
KMSC, the school radio station located on the MSUM campus, will now be featuring a new radio show dedicated to Dragons sports and other sporting segments.
“This is a great opportunity to inform our campus and the surrounding community about Dragon athletics,” said Aaron Lund, a junior at MSUM and one of the four students responsible for the development of the new sports show.
“While this show will give MSUM publicity, it is also a way to get the student radio station back out there,”
sophomore Chase Miller said.
On air, Miller, Lund, Eric Hanson and Rex Larson will discuss and commentate on the local sporting events of the MSUM Dragons.
There will be several other segments in the two hours of airtime consisting of other sports recaps, a fantasy draft and Scotty’s Corner, a segment named for Larry Scott, former MSUM sports information director, who retired after 40 years.
“We’re just four guys who really have a passion for sports, and it’s a great way to share an athlete’s story with our peers,” Hanson said.
Their passion was apparent during the program. Even when the students are off air, conversation still pertains to their favorite players and sport statistics, with absolutely no discrimination to any particular sport.
They are truly avid sports fans, which will be apparent to all who listen to the program.
“It’s a great way to talk about our interest in sports.” Larson said. “It’s also step one to achieving fame!”
The commentaries of Miller, Lund, Hanson and Larson can be heard every Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. on KMSC 1500 AM. Students can feel free to call in with questions or comments during that time at 218.477.2115, or simply listen to stay up-to-date with the Dragons.
