MC Panel provides opportunities
Society of Professional Journalists will be hosting an event called “Making it in the Media” from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the mass communication lounge in Flora Frick.
The event will include three speakers from three different areas of media who are all MSUM journalism graduates, and the event will explain how the graduates can set themselves apart from the rest of the field. The speakers will discuss how to continue to grow as journalists even as the career outlook in media becomes increasingly unfavorable.
The speakers will consist of Becca Gilbuena, a news producer at Valley News Live; Carrie Snyder, a photojournalist from The Forum; and Amy Dalrymple, a reporter at The Forum.
In addition, people who attend will receive information about various journalism internships in the area and a free lunch will be served.
Two desktop publishing classes have worked on informational posters that will be scattered around campus. Also, a Facebook page has been created called “Society of Professional Journalists MSUM 2009-10” which has additional information.
SPJ is a group that helps improve and protect journalism as well as spread the interest at MSUM.
